Find out more about the Community Grants Program

For more information about the Community Grants Program please read our Frequently Asked Questions below or read the Community Grants information booklet (PDF).

What is the Community Grants Program?

The Community Grants Program provides funding to support community organisations that are making our communities safer and more sustainable, particularly in the areas of crime prevention, road safety, emergency readiness and response, and the environment. If your organisation is involved in any one of these areas, then you can apply for a one-off grant of between $500 to $5,000 (including GST).

What projects or initiatives are supported through the Community Grants Program?

There are four categories where support is provided:

  • Crime prevention
  • Road safety
  • Emergency readiness and response
  • Environment

A description of each category is outlined in the Community Grants information booklet (PDF).

Where do I send a completed Community Grant application?

Applications for the 2010 Community Grants Program will only be accepted online. Applicants are encouraged to read the Community Grants information booklet (PDF) to understand the full details of the program, including the selection criteria.

When will applications for Community Grants be accepted?

Community groups will be able to apply for a 2010 Community Grant from Monday 1 March until Wednesday 31 March 2010.

Note: All community organisations will be notified by email of the outcome of their application by 31 May 2010.

What happens once a community organisation has been successful in receiving a Community Grant?

Successful community organisations will receive the following:

  • Email offering a letter of acceptance including the details pertaining to the amount that the Community Grants Program will provide for their project
  • Terms and conditions of the grant (to be signed by the community organisation)
  • Acquittal report guidelines (report to be completed within six weeks of completion of the project or 30 June 2011)
  • Recipient Created Tax Invoice form (to be signed by the community organisation)

What will unsuccessful community applicants receive?

As resources are limited, not every application that meets the assessment criteria will necessarily receive a grant. An email will be sent to advise unsuccessful applicants of the outcome of their application.
